Greenland Tower

Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture designs high-performance buildings and urban spaces that bring together ambitious form, environmental thinking, and a strong sense of place. For Greenland Tower in Chengdu, the firm drew on the region’s mountain landscape to design a 468-meter glass tower conceived as a sculpture of reflected light.

During my brief time at the firm, I led the 3D-BIM drafting of the four-story underground structure beneath the tower, which houses retail, bicycle and car parking, and mechanical equipment. I worked closely with structural and mechanical engineers to integrate their systems into the architectural model, as well as learning and incorporating local building code requirements. The project also required me to learn and incorporate local building code requirements as the design developed.
