Arterra Residential Tower
HOK is a global architecture, engineering, and planning firm whose work spans housing, workplaces, healthcare, transportation, and civic buildings. Its design for Arterra responds to Kansas City’s Crossroads Arts District with a 12-story residential building that combines apartments, street-level retail, and shared spaces.
I led construction administration for the 183,000 sq. ft. new construction, translating the St. Louis office’s design into a finished project in the heart of Kansas City. I responded to requests for information (RFIs), made weekly site visits and documented construction progress in field reports. I also performed quality control reviews, working with the project team to resolve questions on site and keep the built work aligned with the design. Having zero participation in the design process, this project forced me to learn about a new project quickly and use the CA-experience I had gained to deliver a successful building.
