NORR is an international, multidisciplinary firm with a diversified portfolio. At the Chicago office, great individual responsibility within an intimate setting of communicative teamwork leads to quality project outcomes. They specialize in hospitality, commercial/retail, and large-scale residential.

During my years at NORR, I was on the team that serviced Starbucks Coffee Company. We worked directly with their internal design managers to develop some of the highest quality Starbucks stores in the Midwest and along the East Coast. High emphasis was placed on local relevance, so that every store felt like it was tailored to its environment, history, and customer base. Extensive research was conducted for every store, and creative freedom allowed us to push the limits of design to provide the best coffee experience possible.

While managing my own projects, I became very comfortable with working directly with clients, consultants, property-owners, as well as communicating with fellow colleagues. Much was learned about commercial interior design, both new-construction methods as well as renovation processes, HVAC systems, ADA policies, and existing conditions as well as tight budgets and demanding schedules. I conducted initial client/contractor conversations and executed site visits; designed schematic layout presentations, prepared extensive construction documentation, and performed construction management - all of this within a tighly-knit framework of collaboration as a team within our firm as well as with all external contacts.
